Collection: Marilyn Jessop

I fell in love capturing colour on canvas at the age of eleven, thanks to my parents seeing some form of creativity in me. Although I never pursued an education in art, I experimented with a variety of techniques during my teenage years, and started to sell my paintings in galleries around the South Island.

Over the years I have managed to have 'bursts of painting enthusiasm' (in between life), holding exhibitions in both Nelson and Marlborough selling some to international buyers.

I am now in the enviable position where I can paint every day which has allowed me to create my 'Impression's of Summer Series', which are vibrant and richly textured creations, along with my 'Remastered Series', both of which I have adored laying on canvas. I love the Impressionism Movement, especially Renoir, JS Sargent and Monet, which is why they appear in my 'Remastered Series'.

I vary my painting styles and subjects - to keep fresh and exciting with every works that I create. I have to say, I do completely immerse myself in the art of painting, frequently oblivious to time.....even to the pint of forgetting to put the roast in the oven! I would rather have a completed painting, and a very late dinner anyway! This is my life!
